PAUL BOOTH TRIO

In advance of his new ‘trio’ album, Paul Booth plays a special one-off concert for Leam-Jazz with his new band. Paul Booth is one of the most exciting and in demand musicians on the scene today. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London from the age of 16 and graduated with honours at the age 20.
He has won many awards…..the prestigious Clifford Brown/Stan Getz fellowship, “The Best Modern Jazz Player” category in the televised “Young Jazz Player of the Year” competition and many more.
Paul is currently in the Steve Winwood band and has performed worldwide with the likes of Riverdance, Eric Clapton, Basia, Eddie Henderson, Alex Wilson, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Snowboy, Ray Gelato, Jane Monheit, Carlos Santana, Michael Janisch
He is a regular at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London with his own band and others and has done several UK tours under his own name with the backing of Jazz Services and Jazz Action. Paul Booth & Ingrid Jensen’s Gig at Jazz Coventry was a highlight of their 2009 season

MYJO in Henley
The multi award winning Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra is performing in Henley in Arden on Monday 20th December at the Memorial Hall, Station Rd. Henley in Arden (Not Hampton !!) B95 5JQ
The programme will feature music performed with their usual verve and vigour plus some Christmas big band favourites. The concert is in partnership with Henley Rotary Club and proudly sponsored by Johnson’s Coaches
Back Room Jazz, Lichfield
On Thursday December 16th Jazz continues in the Back Room of the George IV, Lichfield. 8.30-11pm, and it’s free entry.
A highly talented jazz trio led by Daniel Casimir on Double Bass, and featuring Ralph Brown on Piano and JJ Wheeler on Drums. Expect only the finest jazz with subtle and cool grooves, featuring Dan’s compositions and arrangements (everything from Brad Mehldau to Led Zeppelin)!
For the evening I’ve assembled a quartet to start things off, a one off for this evening!

Top trombonist visiting the midlands
Top UK trombonist Ian Bateman guests with the Amy Roberts Quartet Wednesday 27th October 8.15pm at the Pershore Working Mens and Old Comrades Club, 57 High Street, Pershore WR10 1EU
Ian is a featured soloist with the world famous Acker Bilk band and also is a founder member of the wonderful trombone band The Bone Supremacy.
Ian also co-leads a band with his brother Alan; they are both guesting with banjo player Pete Long and his Jazz Band this Thursday 28th October at the Kingsdown Arms, Swindon.
